Alliance Management Guide

Everything an alliance leader (or officer) needs to run their alliance — from setting up membership rules to running a vote.

What Is an Alliance?

An alliance is a group of players who work together to capture outposts, share technology benefits, and compete on the leaderboard. Alliances can negotiate with other alliances, run internal votes, and coordinate attacks and defenses. Solo players can survive, but only alliance members can attack outposts, AI-held ones included, so team up.

Alliance Ranks

Every member has a rank. Your rank determines what you can do.

RankWhat they can do
LeaderEverything — full control of the alliance
GeneralManage members (up to Lieutenant rank), create polls, change settings, set tax rate
LieutenantView alliance settings; limited member management (Probationary and Member only)
MemberVote on polls, view intel, use alliance chat
ProbationaryCan use alliance chat, view alliance intel, and dispatch fleets to defend; cannot vote on polls or update combat status

Managing Members

Inviting Players and Reviewing Applications

You set how players join your alliance on the Alliance Settings screen (tap Manage in the alliance menu):

  • Auto Accept on — players who meet your minimum score and value requirements join immediately without review.
  • Auto Accept off — players submit a join request and a General or Leader must approve it.

To review pending applications, tap Manage in the alliance menu, then tap Apps. Each applicant shows their username, score, and value. Tap a name to open their card, then tap Accept or Decline.

When you accept a player, you assign their starting rank from a dropdown. When you decline a player, they get a news message saying so and can apply to your alliance again after 48 hours.

Setting Membership Requirements

In Alliance Settings (General or Leader required):

  • Min Score — players below this score cannot apply.
  • Min Value — players below this value cannot apply.
  • Auto Accept toggle — controls whether qualifying applicants join automatically or wait for manual approval.

Tap Save after making changes.

Promoting and Demoting Members

  1. Open Alliance Management and go to the Members panel.
  2. Tap a member's name to open their card.
  3. Select a new rank from the dropdown and tap Update.

What you can assign depends on your own rank:

  • Leaders can assign any rank, including transferring leadership to another player.
  • Generals can manage members below their own rank and assign ranks up to Lieutenant or down to Probationary.
  • Lieutenants can only move members between Probationary and Member.

Kicking Members

  1. Open the Members panel and tap the member's name.
  2. Tap Kick.

The kick is immediate. There is no confirmation step, so be sure before you tap. The kicked player is removed from the alliance instantly, their alliance tag disappears from the leaderboard, and both they and the alliance receive a news notification. The kicked player can apply to rejoin your alliance after 7 days, and can join a different alliance right away.

Leaders can kick anyone except themselves. Generals can kick members strictly below their own rank.

Transferring Leadership

To hand the alliance to someone else:

  1. Open the Members panel and tap the player you want to make Leader.
  2. Select Leader from the rank dropdown.
  3. Tap Update, then tap Confirm.

The game asks you to confirm the handover first. Once you confirm, it happens immediately: the player you chose becomes Leader and you become a General. You can't take leadership back yourself; only the new Leader can hand it back.

Alliance Tax

The alliance tax is a percentage of each member's passive resource income that goes directly into the alliance treasury. Every minute, a share of what each member's Stardom produces is set aside for the alliance and paid into the treasury in batches as members play, so the balance rises in steps.

Who Sets the Tax Rate

Leaders and Generals can set the tax rate. Tap Manage in the alliance menu and use the Alliance Tax section. The rate can be set anywhere from 0% to 20% — values outside that range are not accepted.

What the Treasury Is Used For

Resources in the treasury fund alliance technology research — upgrades for your whole alliance. See the Starting Technologies section below for how to put those resources to work.

What Leaders and Officers Should Know

  • Tax applies to passive resource generation only. Resources members earn from combat are not taxed. Only the resources their Stardom produces over time.
  • A tax rate of 0% means nothing is collected. If the treasury is empty or growing slowly, check that the tax rate is set above 0%.
  • The treasury balance on the Manage screen is read when you open it. Open the screen again to see the newest figure.
  • The cap is 20%. Rates from 0% to 20% are accepted.

Applications

When Auto Accept is off, players submit a join request from Alliance Home. You review those requests under Manage → Apps:

  • The list shows all pending applicants, oldest first.
  • Each row shows the applicant's name, score and value. Tap the name to open their application.
  • Leaders and Generals tap Accept to admit them (choosing a starting rank below their own) or Decline to turn them down.
  • Declined players get a news message. They can apply to your alliance again after 48 hours, and to other alliances right away.

The list loads when you open the screen. If nobody has applied, it says so, and if it can't load, the screen lets you try again.

Alliance Polls

Polls let you put a decision to a vote before acting on it.

Creating a Poll (Leaders and Generals Only)

  1. Open Alliance Polls: from Alliance Home, tap Manage, then Polls.
  2. Type your question in the Poll Question field.
  3. Fill in at least two response options. Tap Add to include up to six options total.
  4. Choose a duration: 1 Hour, 24 Hours, 48 Hours, or 72 Hours.
  5. If you want members to be able to select more than one answer, turn on the Allow Multi-select? toggle.
  6. Tap Create.

The poll goes live immediately. Only one poll can be active at a time.

How Voting Works

Members (Probationary members cannot vote) open Alliance Vote from Alliance Home. The screen shows the question and a label that says either Select one option or Select one or more options. They tap their choice and tap Vote. Members can change their vote at any time while the poll is active.

You can watch the tallies update live from Alliance Polls while the poll is running.

Ending a Poll

The poll closes automatically when the timer runs out. Leaders and Generals can also end it early by tapping End in Alliance Polls. When a poll ends, the final results move to the Completed Polls section and stay there for 14 days.

Poll questions are written in whatever language the creator uses. They are not automatically translated.

Alliance Relations

Relations let you set the diplomatic status between your alliance and another. There are three relation types:

RelationWhat it means
AllianceFriendly pact. Neither side attacks the other.
NAP (Non-Aggression Pact)Neutral agreement. Neither side attacks the other.
WarDeclared by one side, no agreement needed. Both sides can attack each other until either side ends it.

By default you have no relation with other alliances, so either side can attack the other. Only an Alliance or NAP removes the Attack option between you.

Relations are managed from the Alliance Relations screen: from Alliance Home, tap Manage, then Relations. Only Leaders and Generals can set or change relations.

Declaring War is one-sided: tap Declare and you do not need the other alliance's agreement. An Alliance or NAP must be requested and then accepted by the other alliance.

Alliance and NAP agreements last for the time agreed and then end automatically, after which the two alliances have no relation. A War has no end date. It lasts until a Leader or General of either alliance cancels it, or both alliances agree to an Alliance or NAP.

Starting Technologies

Alliance technologies come in four categories: Outpost Mining, Asteroid Mining, Outpost Shields and Shield Regeneration. Asteroid Mining boosts every member's asteroid income, Outpost Mining raises the resources your alliance's outposts share out to members, and Outpost Shields gives your outposts stronger shields. These three take effect as soon as research finishes. Shield Regeneration instead gives your alliance daily shield repairs, which a General or Leader uses on an outpost from the Outposts screen. All benefits last for the rest of the round.

Who Can Start Research

Only Generals and Leaders can start a technology. Members, Lieutenants, and Probationary members can view the technology list but cannot start anything.

How Research Is Funded

Technology research costs Gold, Mineral, and Power from the alliance treasury. The treasury fills over time through the alliance tax (see Alliance Tax above).

What a Leader Needs to Know

  • Only one technology can be researched at a time. No other research can be started until the current one finishes.
  • Technologies have prerequisites. Some cannot be started until an earlier technology in the same category is completed.
  • Research stops if the round ends. Starting research early in a round gives the alliance more time to benefit from it.
  • To view research progress, tap Tech in the Alliance menu. The status line shows what is being researched and how much time remains.

What Leaders Cannot Do

A few things the game prevents entirely, regardless of rank:

  • Kick themselves. No player can kick their own account. To leave, a Leader can first hand leadership to a member of their choice, or simply leave the alliance, and leadership passes to one of the highest-ranked remaining members.
  • Have more than one active poll at a time. Your alliance can only run one poll simultaneously. You must wait for the current poll to end (or end it early) before creating a new one.
  • Change the alliance name or tag more than once every 48 hours. The 48-hour cooldown applies to each field independently. If the name or tag was recently changed, you will see a message showing how many hours remain.
  • Set a tax rate above 20%. The maximum is 20%. Values outside the 0–20 range are rejected.
  • Assign a rank equal to or above their own (for Generals). Generals can only promote members to ranks below their own. Only a Leader can promote someone to General or higher.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Alliance score stays with the alliance when members leave. When a member leaves, the score they earned while in your alliance stays in the alliance total. Score they earned before joining never counts.

The treasury balance on the Manage screen is read when you open it. Open the screen again to see the newest figure.

Tax applies to passive resource generation, not combat salvage. Resources your Stardom produces over time are taxed. Resources you gain from battles are not.

What a new member adds. When a player joins, your member count goes up by one and their value and asteroids are added to your alliance's totals. Their score from before joining is not added; only score they earn as a member counts. Round Ranks shows the new totals at its next refresh.
